Message Preface: As many of you know, I have been a Kuhmo whore since discovering them accidentally. The tires for me proved a fantastic financial desicion with equally fantastic performance characteristics.

Subject: Kuhmo tires are the best investment in a tire. They last forever. But many many folks hate them for reasons I could not, or would not understand.

History: Approximately 6 months ago, I ordered a full set of Kumho Ecsta Supra 711s (not the harder compound 712s). The 711s have performed excellently in the past. The future should be no different. Unfortunantly, Discount tire screwed up my custom order and I was FORCED to take what they had in stock. In the front, I have Dunlop SP8000. They are with out question the ugliest tire in the world. I call them 'granny panties', cause no car could make them look good. In the rear, I got my Kumho Exta 711s.

During this down time, My car was subjected to a terrible noise, that to this day has prevented me from boosting beyond stock settings. This is a self imposed limit as the noise is so terrible, that it's not good to worsen the situation. (read: nick had to drive slow and keep it on the downlow since september of last year while he solves this problem). The problem is still unsolved.

Yesterday: By chance, I checked my front tires for wear. The car has been pulling for a bit and I wanted to watch my tread to make sure my camber was ok. (I change camber A LOT since I road course pretty often). The fronts looked fine, with tons of tread. I checked the rear, and to my utter HORROR, they were BALD. Approximately 4,500 miles, and the Kuhmos were BALD. From grandma driving, and with having traction control ON (yay bernie!) for the entire time.

For this, I must conclude that part of the reason that Kuhmo has a bad name is "lack of consistancy". I have had great success with approximately 4 batches of these tires until this batch.

Future: As of today, there are Sumitomo(?) HRT+ ort some shits. The bad news is, I had to up size them from 45 series to 50 series. I also paid roughly $40.oo MORE per tire then a comparable Kuhmo.

I will conclude this post with a retraction of my love of kuhmos. I will also apologize to the forum, it's members, and admin, for I was RIGHT the entire time until I got a hold of a bad set of tires. I will step off the kuhmo soapbox and stand silently by the side.

Sorry.
-Nicholas.
